UNO does not have a traditional storyline or campaign.
The game is instead based on individual card matches. Players choose their opponents, start a round, and try to get rid of their hands before anyone else.
The excitement is in the changing situations during each match. A player on the verge of winning can suddenly be forced to draw more cards when another player plays a Draw Two or Wild Draw Four.
There is no fixed story, and so each match has its own story as it unfolds.
Gameplay
UNO follows the basic rules of the classic card game, but changes them to make it playable on a console.
At the start of each round, each player is dealt a hand of cards. In the middle a card is placed to indicate the current color and number or symbol.
On your turn, you usually have to play a card that matches the current card by:
Color Digit Sign
If you can't play a card, you draw a card according to the rules of the game.
The aim is to get rid of your hand before the other players.
Cards with numbers
Number cards are the backbone of UNO.
They are divided into four colors
Red Yellow Green Blue
The cards are numbered within each color, and can be played on to cards of either the same color or the same number.
Card Skip
A Skip card forces the next player to lose his/her turn.
It can also be used to prevent another player from playing a useful card straight away.
Card reversal
The Reverse card reverses the direction of movement.
This can make a big difference to who gets to play next in a multiplayer match.
Draw 2
A Draw Two forces the next player to take extra cards and lose his turn, depending on the rules being used.
This card is most useful when another player is getting close to completing their hand.
Wild Card
Wild card allows the player to select the next color.
This is a key strategic advantage as you can select a color that matches the cards remaining in your hand.
Wild Draw Four
The Wild Draw Four is one of the most powerful cards in UNO. It allows the player to change the color and forces the next player to draw more cards.
It's powerful, and knowing when to use it can make a big difference in a tight match.
Multi-player
One of the biggest attractions of UNO is multiplayer.
Playing with friends makes the game less predictable. Human players can intentionally change colors, hold back special cards and react to what the other players seem to have in their hands.
