The story starts when strange alien robots, called StarDroids, attack Earth from outer space. Once again it’s up to Mega Man to save the planet from this new menace. Mega Man must travel to different planets and face the StarDroids and their powerful leaders. Each boss he defeats unlocks a new weapon that can be used against other enemies. The adventure continues and Mega Man discovers that the invasion is part of a larger scheme. He must survive increasingly difficult stages and powerful enemies before he faces the final threat and saves earth.

Mega Man V follows the classic side-scrolling action-platforming formula of the series, but introduces a number of new mechanics and weapons.
