Jurassic Park is an action-adventure platform game for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive developed by BlueSky Software and published by Sega in 1993. The game is based on the iconic Jurassic Park film and transports players to the island of Isla Nublar, where genetically engineered dinosaurs have escaped and turned the island into a dangerous survival zone.
One of the most interesting features of the Genesis version is that players get to experience the adventure from two different views. You can play as the paleontologist Dr . Alan Grant trying to survive the island or you can play as a Velociraptor , creating a completely different type of gameplay and objectives .
Unlike other 1993 Jurassic Park games, the Genesis release is not a port of the SNES or NES title, but a separate version. The Genesis game is side scrolling 2D platforming and players can choose human or dinosaur characters.

Story
The game takes place on Jurassic Park’s home, Isla Nublar.
The park's security systems fail catastrophically and the dinosaurs break out of their enclosures and begin roaming the island. Dr. Alan Grant is stuck in the deadly landscape and has to figure a way out.
Players take on the role of Grant and explore various areas of the island while dealing with dinosaurs, security systems, environmental hazards and other threats. His ultimate goal is to leave the island alive.
Playing as the Velociraptor also gives the game a whole different story line. Rather than trying to survive the dinosaurs, you become one of the creatures hunting and fighting your way through the island.
That dual character approach was unusual for a licensed game of the era and gives the Genesis version a good deal of replay value.
Gameplay
Jurassic Park is mostly a side-scrolling action-platformer in 2D. It mixes exploration, combat, platforming and survival.
You play as Dr. Grant and you’ll explore the island, using weapons and equipment to deal with dinosaurs. Grant's arsenal includes such tools as a tranquilizer gun and sleeping-gas grenades, so he can handle some dinosaur threats without resorting entirely to conventional weapons.
The gameplay changes dramatically when you play as the Velociraptor. The dinosaur uses its own physical attacks and speed, not Grant's equipment.
Thus, the game offers two different experiences in one title.
The main gameplay features are:
Platforming 2D
Exploration Dinosaur fight
Environmental threats
Action with weapons
Dino abilities
More than one playable character
Side-scrolling levels
Survival problems
Boss meets
This combination makes the game more than just a simple movie tie-in.
