Duke Nukem ROM Download Free - Sega Saturn brings one of the most recognisable first person shooters of the 90's to Sega's 32 bit console. Duke Nukem 3D was first released in 1996 for PC, and later ported to a number of systems including the Sega Saturn. In the game, players control Duke Nukem, an action hero who must battle invading aliens as they travel through cities, military installations and other hostile environments. Duke Nukem 3D differs from many early shooters by combining fast gun action with interactive environments, exploration, humour, and a large variety of weapons. The Saturn version, released as Duke Nukem 3D, changes the PC’s experience for console players, but keeps the game’s first person shooting mechanics and recognisable Duke Nukem personality. Players can explore the levels, discover secret areas, pick up weapons and ammunition, activate switches, destroy objects and fight various alien enemies.

Story

Duke Nukem 3D starts off with Duke returning to earth after the events of his past adventures. But un-friendly aliens have invaded Earth. Los Angeles turns into a battlefield and Duke is called to arms again. The city has been turned into a chaos by the alien invasion as enemies are seen in the streets, buildings, police stations, underground areas and other places. Duke’s mission is to eliminate the alien threat, rescue survivors, and discover the extent of the invasion. The story is told in brief sequences, environmental details, character dialogue, and Duke's signature one-liners rather than long cinematic cutscenes. There’s a lot of action movie humour, and the game plays it up intentionally. Duke’s personality is a huge part of the experience.

Gameplay

Duke Nukem 3D is an FPS, a first person shooter. You shoot stuff but you also explore and interact with the environment. Unlike extremely linear shooters, many levels require players to search for switches, keycards, elevators, doors, and alternative routes. First Person Combat The main game play involves fighting alien enemies with a range of weapons. Players can explore the levels in first person perspective, looking for ammo, health, armour, weapons and useful items. Enemies can attack from any direction, so make sure you’re constantly checking your surroundings. Arms. Duke can draw on a diverse weaponry. Arms: includes: Pistol, Shotgun Chain gun RPG Pipe bombs Shrinker Freezer Ravager Every weapon has its own purpose. The shotgun is good for close range and explosive weapons can kill groups of enemies. Other weapons have special effects that can be very useful against tougher enemies. Interactive Areas One of the most memorable things about Duke Nukem 3D is that the world is interactive. Players can interact with many environmental objects, like: Switches Doors Lifts Security systems bathrooms Switches for the light Computer: Explosive devices Various props for the scene The computerised interactions give the levels more the feel of environments rather than shooting corridors. Secrets There are a lot of secret areas in the game. Secret rooms may contain ammo, weapons, health, armour, or other useful items. Searching walls, suspect corners, other corridors, and strange objects can reveal secret places. Finding secrets is especially useful on higher difficulty levels. Foes Duke encounters a variety of alien enemies throughout the game. Some enemies attack from a distance, while others try to get close to Duke. Different enemies need different approaches. Some can be handled with standard weaponry, but stronger enemies may call for explosives or heavier fire. Enemies are also placed in a way that keeps players on their toes, with danger potentially coming from rooms, hallways, ceilings and other places. Level Design Level design is one of the defining characteristics of Duke Nukem 3D. The game drops you into recognisable environments as Duke, not just military bases and sci-fi corridors. The original campaign features locations such as: Los Angeles streets Cinemas Restaurants Police stations Gentlemen's clubs Subterranean areas Military facilities Extraterrestrial environments The mix of familiar settings and sf elements adds something to the game’s personality. The levels often have multiple routes and players are asked to find the correct route to continue.
