Comix Zone is a unique action-platformer and beat 'em up game developed by Sega Technical Institute and published for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. What makes the game stand out from other titles from the 16-bit era is that the entire adventure takes place within the pages of a living comic book.
Players take control of Sketch Turner, a comic-book artist who is trapped in his own creation. Sketch moves through the panels of his comic and the artwork comes alive around him. He must battle enemies, solve environmental puzzles and find a way to escape while the villainous Mortus tries to destroy him from within the comic.
The game’s unique hand-drawn look, challenging combat, interactive environments and comic-book feel made it one of the Genesis era’s more memorable games. Comix Zone ROM Download remains a popular search among retro gaming fans that want to experience this unusual Sega classic.

Story
It opens on a stormy nite with Sketch Turner, a struggling comic-book artist, working on his latest creation.
Sketch is still drawing and lightning strikes his comic book. The event makes the characters and the world in the comic real.
Sketch is pulled into his own artwork and finds himself stuck inside the pages.
Mortus is the main antagonist of the game and a character in Sketch's comic. Mortus can only exist within the comic itself, and he attempts to kill Sketch from within the artwork. If Sketch should die in the comic, Mortus may be able to escape into the real world.
Sketch must fight his way through the comic panels in search for a way out.
On the way, Sketch meets enemies, mutants, traps and puzzles. He is also accompanied by his pet rat, Roadkill, who can help him in parts of the adventure.
The story is told in comic panels and visual sequences, echoing the game's premise that Sketch is literally fighting his way through his own drawings.
Gameplay
Comix Zone combines beat 'em up combat, platforming, puzzle-solving and exploration.
Instead of moving through traditional levels Sketch moves through individual comic book panels. Each panel is a small slice of the level, with enemies, obstacles, interactive objects and sometimes alternate paths.
Sketch can punch and kick enemies, use objects in the environment and interact with elements of the comic artwork.
The gameplay involves:
Close Quarters Combat
Platforms
Puzzles of the environment
Comic-Panel Investigations
Gathering Items
Interactive environments
Enemy engagements
Boss fights
Alternative routes
The odd level design makes the game feel different from your typical genesis beat ‘em up.
