Army Men (also known as Army Men: Sarge's Heroes) is a series of video games set in the universe of Army Men, a fictional universe divided between two opposing plastic armies; the Green Army and the Tan Army. One of the Green Army's most seasoned soldiers, Sarge is sent out on a string of dangerous missions against the Tan forces. The war is in different environments and ordinary places are turned into huge battlefields. Instead of engaging in realistic military environments, soldiers must battle oversized household items, outdoor terrain, buildings and other miniature-world obstructions. Sarge is given orders by his commanders and must complete a variety of objectives, all the while fighting Tan soldiers and destroying enemy positions. As the campaign progresses, the battles get tougher with new weapons, enemies, vehicles and environments. The simple struggle between the Green and Tan armies forms the basis for the game’s action-oriented missions, as well as its distinct toy-war atmosphere.

Army Men is primarily a third person action game with elements of strategy and tactics. Players take control of Sarge directly as he advances across battlefields, killing enemy soldiers, destroying targets and completing mission objectives. The game has many different weapons that can be used against different enemy types. Players will need to manage their ammo, and choose the right weapon for the situation. Other Green Army soldiers besides Sarge can also participate in battles. This makes you feel like you are commanding a larger military force rather than controlling just one character.
