Nites into Dreams... is a classic flying action game developed by Sonic Team and originally released for the SEGA Saturn in 1996. The game follows Claris and Elliot as they enter the dream world of Nightopia, where they join forces with Nites in the battle against the Nightmarens and to defeat Wizeman. The RE (Re-release) version is in fact the later HD version of the game, which brought the Saturn classic to modern platforms with improved visuals, widescreen support, leaderboards, achievements/trophies, and an optional Saturn Mode that recreates the original presentation.

Story

The show follows two children, Claris Sinclair and Elliot Edwards, who have nightmares and enter the mysterious dream world of Nightopia. There they meet NiGHTS, a Nightmaren who has turned against Wizeman. The characters must journey through dream worlds, collecting Ideya, defeating enemies, and stopping Wizeman from taking over Nightopia.

Gameplay

Nites into Dreams… forgoes traditional platforming for high-speed aerial movement. Players control Nites as they fly through colourful 3D dream worlds, collecting items, defeating enemies, completing objectives, and racking up ever higher scores. The Saturn's analogue controller was designed around the game's movement, and Nites was able to do smooth aerial moves and loops. Every dream is a challenge to complete goals while maintaining your score multiplier. How you move efficiently, pick up things and string actions together are all important factors in getting to the top of the rankings. There are also eight main dreams in the game, each of which has a number of possible endings, depending on how well the player does. Features of the Re-release The HD re-release did have some improvements over the original Saturn version: High definition graphics Support for 16:9 Widescreen Standings Achievements and awards Optional original Saturn Mode Updated presentation. Classic gameplay intact The re-release was released digitally on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in October 2012, with the Windows/Steam version following in December 2012.
