Art of Fighting 3 is a classic 2D fighting game developed by SNK, released for the Neo Geo arcade system in 1996. It is the third and final main entry in the Art of Fighting series, and features new characters, a redesigned visual style, detailed animations and a more refined combat system. The game is all about one-on-one battles where players can use punches, kicks, special moves, throws and powerful attacks to defeat their opponents. Art of Fighting 3 also presented a new cast of fighters and increased the series' cinematic presentation.

Art of Fighting 3's story follows Robert Garcia as he searches for his childhood friend, Freia Lawrence, who is missing. His path brings him into a tournament with a plethora of gifted fighters, all with their own reasons for joining the competition.
The story is told through character interactions and pre-fight sequences, giving the game a greater narrative focus than many fighting games of its era.
Gameplay
Art of Fighting 3 is a standard 1-on-1 fighter that focuses heavily on timing and spacing, and powerful attacks. In the heat of combat players can perform normal attacks, special techniques, throws and desperation moves.
One of the more interesting features is the game’s Ultimate KO system, which allows for certain attacks to set up dramatic finishing sequences. It also features a fighting spirit system that affects special moves and other combat skills.
