Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood is a role-playing adventure on the Nintendo DS developed by BioWare and published by SEGA. The first and only official Sonic the Hedgehog RPG, released in 2008, places Sonic and friends in an all new turn based combat experience.
The game stars Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and other characters in a new adventure where the Chaos Emeralds have mysteriously gone missing and Knuckles has been kidnapped by a new villain. Players explore different environments, build a team of heroes, upgrade abilities and engage in strategic battles using unique character skills.
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood is unlike the traditional Sonic games that center on speed-based platforming and instead adds RPG elements such as experience points, character upgrades, party management and turn-based battles. The Nintendo DS’s touchscreen also is used to execute special attacks and other interactive combat actions.
Story
After Sonic and friends have defeated Dr Eggman, a new threat arises when the Chaos Emeralds disappear and Knuckles are kidnapped by a mysterious group called the Marauders. Sonic gathers his friends and begins a journey to rescue Knuckles and uncover the truth behind this new enemy.
During their adventure, the team discovers an ancient race called the Nocturnus Clan and encounters Shade the Echidna, a warrior connected to Knuckles' forgotten past. The heroes must travel across their world and beyond to stop Ix, the leader of the Nocturnus, from invading their dimension.
The story explores new locations, introduces original characters, and expands the Sonic universe through a classic RPG-style adventure.
