It all begins when Crono goes to the Millennial Fair and meets a girl named Marle, who is very mysterious. While testing a teleportation device built by Crono's friend Lucca, Marle is inadvertently sent through a time portal. Crono follows her and discovers a world linked by various periods of history. As the adventure unfolds the group discovers a far more serious threat to the planet. Crono and his friends must travel through time, meet people from different ages and find a way to prevent a catastrophic future.

Chrono Trigger is a JRPG with exploration, levelling, gear, skills and monsters you encounter in real time. Players progress through various maps, towns, dungeons and eras as they accomplish story goals. Time Travel Time travel is one of the core mechanics of this game. Players can visit multiple eras and see how their actions affect various periods of history. Certain places and events may alter depending on the events of the adventure. Fighting Battles are done with Square's Active Time Battle system. Characters can use normal attacks, techniques, magic or items. Players will need to think carefully about their actions, especially when faced with tougher enemies and bosses. Technology Skills Each character has special abilities called Techs. Characters learn new techniques as they progress that they can use in battle. Certain abilities can be combined between characters to create powerful Dual and Triple Techs. Characters The party has several memorable characters all with different abilities and equipment. Players can pick different party combinations depending on their strategic choices and the challenges they encounter.
